Frode Gjerstad (bass sax, clarinets), Kjetil Brandsdal (bass). Chances are you’re familiar with these two heavyweights. But who’d have ever predicted they’d unite for a duo session. Well, certainly the first to know of the pairing were Mr. Gjerstad’s neighbors. Loud, fuzzed out bass lines crash head on with gale force reed exaltations. A unique recording not to be missed.
SPARK TRIO, “Short Stories in Sound”
What’s left to say about these guys. Moshe and Lavelle are phenomenal in their own right. Sit ‘em down together and you know you’re in for something killer. I could probably release a disc a week from the two with the regularity that they play out. Fortunately, they always send their best stuff. This is no exception. Joined by drummer Todd Capp the trio smokes suckers left and right. Exploring new territory and shorter pieces this is definitely a new and welcomed direction for these cats.

Kim Cascone (computer), Guido Hennebohl (gerate), Brendan Dougherty (drums). Brilliant collaboration of acoustics and electronics. Audio shifts, swirls and rhythmic passages move in and out of the sound field. A remarkable recording.
