Roy Hargrove is one of today's greatest jazz trumpetists. Mezzo is dedicating an entire evening to this master blower. Live at the New Morning, he plays with his pals Gerald Clayton (piano), Montez Coleman (drums), Danton Boller (bass), and Justin Robinson (alto sax). Now that's some darn good swing! Performing in Montreal ten years before, we find Hargrove at the height of his Cuban period, jamming to Latin rhythms and hard bop with his band, Crisol. The final concert of the night, from Vienne, showcases his talents in Big Band along with the magical voice of Roberta Gambarini. MEZZO, Thursday, February 25, at 8:30 p.m.
