Dennis González, compositor e trompetista de Dallas, Texas, à revista britânica JazzWise, edição de Outubro: “So when a music such as jazz comes along, the everyday European will tend to be more open about a broadening in the scope of the music. It is considered more of a cultural treasure as are all the other folk musics, regional sounds and classical musical literature of Europe. It’s not surprising that European labels would be established with a major emphasis on new American jazz. I think that my music is accessible enough that labels such as Blue Note and Columbia would do well in releasing it but the mindset within the major “jazz” companies in the United States is one of supporting an unchallenging, esily digestible musical wallpaper. Hence the saving grace of European jazz labels.”
