«Luís Antero / Field Recordings pretende afirmar-se como uma plataforma fonográfica das regiões da Beira Serra e Serra da Estrela, fundamentalmente, fazendo uso de registos sonoros de vária ordem, dando primazia a elementos sonoros naturais e a tradições orais (...)».
The music improvised by SAP(e) is entirely centred around a certain ideal of the listening experience. What this ideal means is basically a total belief in the sonic experience as a perception. Music is not made to be functional; it does not have to fulfil any spiritual or physical needs, apart from what is really heard. What is heard is what only matter. In this aspect, our music is not by any means conceptual, nor it is only emotional. Our music only exist in the perception of the listener, there is nothing else. The perception is the place where occurs the imagination, the sensibility, in other words the music.
Being obsessed by what is perceived when we play, it became quite logical then that we are also obsessed with dramaturgy. We are playing some kind of restricted sonic landscapes at low volume in a very minimal way, but we are not playing drone. We are improvising music that always seeks to match a certain formal accomplishment, which –basically- tries to go somewhere. Needless to say that it doesn’t always work perfectly, this is improvised, thus imperfect. Finally, the recording is a capture of a moment; it has to be considered as this, no more no less.

14 Versions of the Same EP - Long Division with Remainders
Myra Melford em entrevista à At Length.
Maps And Diagrams' [Tim Martin] latest strike on classical electronica is also his first release on Yuki Yaki, which marks a little beatless respite after a number of more rhythmic outputs recently. Warmly droning ambient-textures with plenty of endless space echo, like in the good old days, dominate the album. Melancholy, contemplation and calm prevail - nicely wrapped in mysteriously shining soundscapes with a kiss of lo-fi noise. "The Giant Woods" [YkYk019] seems to be rather predestined for the dark Winter days to come.
Werken (Tilman Ehrhorn) - Sum [zym024]
Sum is the debut album of Werken, one of the aliases of Tilman Ehrhorn known for his releases on Mille Plateaux and Resopal Schallware. Working full time as saxophone and reed player, composer, producer and sound designer Tilman Ehrhorn is a highly regarded jazz artist who also took roots in the electronic world. Among teaching, giving jazz clinics and regular work in theater, tv-, radio-, and cd- productions he has established himself as a composer as well as a performing artist in clubs, at festivals and for concert tours all over the world.
This release introduces an experimental and ambientish dubby side of his producing skills. Almost every sound has been generated on a modular synthesizer. Some important developing tools within the synth are sine and noise oscillators, with which also most of the percussion sounds are built. The majority of tunes are crossfading to the following; the progress of the album ranges from the opening track to its closing reprise like of one piece. In many parts of the tracks, beats are used rhythmically free to interrupt a pulsing soundpad, which is a main element of the music. Some minimal changing figures are taking hold to break up continous sequential patterns. The non-conventional manner of generating sounds as well as using elements of chance within the production process creates similarities with the improvisational niveau of jazz and contemporary composed music.
